Description
Yellow sac spiders are in the genus Cheiracanthium. Two species occur in the US and bites from these spiders are apparently sometimes misatributed to brown recluses and other spiders that don’t even necessarily occur where the victim lives.
(The word “victim”, here, being misatributed to the American that rolls over on the spider, smothering it to death.)
Spiders can bite people. I offer these common backyard spiders, but it is your responsibility to educate yourself about their venom and not put your finger in their mouths.
