Woodlouse Hunter Spider

Category:

Description

Woodlouse Hunters Dysdera crocata are one of the only urban predators of pill bugs. They eat sow bugs and other isopods too. These colorful red spiders do well in captivity and captive births are common. Spiderlings are pale to neon orange. Males especially have some of the proportionately largest fangs (chelicerae) in nature. Though they’re common spiders, most people have never seen them due to their nocturnal, secretive habits. A quick search around the web suggests bites aren’t medically signficant, but don’t get bitten!

Current specimens 1/2 to 3/4 inches.
