Uroctonus mordax is known as the California Forest Scorpion. Indeed, they look like small versions of the hobby’s more familiar brownish-black forest or emperor scorpions. However, these are considerably smaller. Like other scorpions, they fluoresce brightly under UV light. It is not necessary to keep them as warm as exotic species. These like a moister habitat than desert species.
Small juveniles 1/3 to 1/2 inch long.
