Darkling beetles are active beetles, adapted to arid climates. Their thick, fused wing-covers (elytra) keep them from dehydrating. Sometimes the elytra are ribbed (lined). There are many different species, and the ones we offer on this product page often vary in size. The ones in the photo represent a typical looking darkling species, but don’t necessarily reflect the exact species we have in stock at a given time. Nor do we necessarily know them down to genus or species level. But feel free to ask anyway.
