Description

Baker Potatoes are starchy potatoes that are particularly suited to baking, roasting and frying. When baked they become light and fluffy and are creamy in a mash.

Potatoes are tubers that are a staple food in many parts of the world, particularly Europe and the West. They are an important food group in Britain, providing all kinds of hearty winter meals when mashed, roasted or in bakes. Despite the potatoes’ popular reputation as a high-carbohydrate, white starch food, they are in fact an exceptionally healthful low calorie, high fibre food that offers protection against cardiovascular disease and cancer. Potatoes also contain a variety of phytonutrients that have antioxidant activity. They are also a good source of vitamin B6, copper, potassium and manganese.
